"taking place" is a portland project facilitated by red 76 (sam gould in the middle) and mathew stadler. this is an exhibition photo from dynamite's potential energy presentation.

curtis of marriage records (at the piano) had an evening of music in his portland loft as part of a multi-location "taking place" exhibition. dynamite presented "potential energy" later that evening. note adrian of thanksgiving playing the drums. his cymbals are glowing.

it is a class we (dynamite) were going to take. the class was canceled for lack of enrollment, but we decided to shorten the itinerary and do it anyway. the photo is from lake trefften (?) in anacortes, wa. the small mountain in the back is mt. erie. can you believe that? somewhere around the right bend of the lake phil elvrum and his wife are swimming and the feeling of the place and their music makes sense. "what the heck fest" had its moments and the DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY has an amazing space that shouldn't be missed. we all spent a few days in vancouver with dave prinsen and family. such a great history of artist run spaces (western front, artspeak). dave and torey's baby ren was by far the highlight. not even 2 and she's having full on conversations. now we're in portland, or and setting up to present a dynamite project called POTENTIAL ENERGY (dynamitefamily.com) followed by another mini movie fest. i think i'm in love with portland.
